The Boy on the Page: a celebration of life and love

I started shivering as I read The Boy on the Page by Peter Carnavas (Kane Miller), shivering with delight. A young boy shows up on a blank page in a book and wonders, “Why am I here?” Soon he starts doing things–he plants a tree, he rescues an animal, he grows up and gets married and has a child. Still he wonders, “Why am I here?”

At last he finds his answer in the simplest but truest of things: love. He’s here for love. To love others and to be loved.

This is a positively delightful book, with whimsical and fun illustrations, affirming the most positive truth of all: We don’t have to be heroes or saviors to change the world; we just have to love the people in our life and be kind to the people and things around us, that is, animals, plants, the earth.
